Echoing Prasad's accusation, Rajiv Pratap Rudy questioned the prime minister Manmohan Singh's lack of reaction, despite the series of attacks on Indians in Australia.

"More than 100 Indians living in Australia have been attacked but not a single response has come from the prime minister. Time has come for highest intervention from the government. We want to ask why the PM is maintaining silence," Rudy said.

Rudy said that the statements of minister of external affairs have failed to make an impact.

He alleged that the government was attempting to gag the media by preventing them from reporting the incidents on the grounds that 'it would affect our relationship with Australia'.
